Note that the comparison here is between redbook and vinyl, not between some particular CD and some particular LP.
To wrap your head around that, think about this - can a vinyl record store a 100kHz sound? Or one 80dB down from full scale? If not, then you've just proven it's not a perfect representation of the original. But once you admit that, you have to ask whether it's better or worse than (say) redbook digital. But then you see it's wrong to say that analogue is better than digital, or more true to the original - that's not correct. It's not a meaningful result. They prefer vinyl for all sorts of reasons that have nothing to do with sound quality - or at least that's my hypothesis, and the results of this test are perfectly consistent with it. Don't get me wrong - I have no problem with vinyl - I just have a problem with people extrapolating results like that to others. I think they're totally meaningless for anyone that didn't participate in that test.
