I use a quad 405-2 direct, but it has had the input gain reduced to 1.5 volts. The conversion works, but the reduction in gain should be described as a reduction in sensitivity to 1.5 Volts for full output. The standard is 500mV for full output. When connecting my SB3 the standard volume setting seems to be 50% which works very well with the small Mission speakers that I use.
