I use the balanced outputs from a Transporter (output impedance 100Ω) to drive the power amps in ATC SCM100A speakers, which have an input impedance of 10kΩ and input sensitivity of 1V. The signal level is reduced with resistor pads soldered inside the XLR plugs at the speaker end of the interconnects (which are about 5m long). I used R1=3kΩ & R2=680Ω, which provides 13.45dB attenuation, raises the effective TP output impedance to 557Ω, and lowers the effective ATC input impedance to 3.6kΩ. General wisdom is that the load impedance should ideally be at least 10x the source impedance, but this ratio (about 6.5x) works well. If there's any loss of extreme high frequencies, I haven't noticed it. -- cliveb Transporter -> ATC SCM100A ------------------------------------------------------------------------ cliveb's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=348 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=55246 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
