Like another poster I use an upgraded Quad 405-2 which has had its input sensitivity decreased. I drive the 405 from the variable output of my Beresford DAC. I adjust the volume pot on the Beresford to a suitable volume with the SB volume at about 85%. That gives me room for adjustment when sitting in comfort. I flip the volume right down for adverts on commercial radio - and clearly I am not interested in quality at that time - only in knowing when to turn the volume up again.
