Themis, I would agree with you that there are many products that seem designaed to liberate money from wallets. In my experience with the two Empirical Audio products I mention, that is not my impression. In my system, I like the NOS dac chips such as TDA1541A and TDA1543 and do not like to use the dac clock. The sound is to my liking and the Pace Car made an audible and positive difference. To me it was worth the investment. I just wanted to share my experience with this product. Take it or leave it. It is a subjective impression. The methodology and effect of slaving clocks and buffering implementation is more objective, and I would agree that you do not get it. There is plenty of information on the web about this and people who are far more technically capable than I to explain all these points, to those who care to educate themselves about it can easily do so.
The one other point is that I could have opted to purchase a Transporter to replace the SB3, but for me, given the cost and alternate route I took, I declined to purchase one. To some, the Transporter is not that much better than an SB3 and is Logitech's way of transporting money from wallets. I would not say this as I have not heard a Transporter. I would rather keep an open mind on this and other such observations, until I have the chance to experiment myself. -- SNZ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ SNZ's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=22232 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=57107 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
