I think you are missing something. If using an external DAC, the BEST solution is to get the clock in the DAC to drive the transport (ie the DUET or SB). So, the only mod needed to the SB/Duet is to remove the 44.1 crystal and wire a cable to the xtal pads from a clock socket. This is what the Pace Car mod does. My issue with their approach is that the Pace Car is NOT a DAC, it is a box between transport and DAC. Therefore whilst it does some of what I am driving at, it then sends either an I2S or SPDIF signal to the DAC. If sending SPDIF, then much of the good work will be undone by the spdif cable. SPDIF RX/TX circuitry and the fact that the DAC still has to recover its clock from the (now dirty again) SPDIF stream. Using the Pace Car with an I2S DAC makes a lot more sense! Fitting an SB with I2S output and connecting to an I2S DAC makes even more sense... -- Phil Leigh You want to see the signal path BEFORE it gets onto a CD/vinyl...it ain't what you'd call minimal...SB3+Stontronics PSU - Altmann JISCO/UPCI - TACT 2.2X (Linear PSU) + Good Vibrations S/W - MF Triplethreat(Audiocom full mods)- Linn 5103 - Aktiv 5.1 system (6x LK140's, ESPEK/TRIKAN/KATAN/SEIZMIK 10.5), Townsend Supertweeters, Kimber & Chord cables Outdoors: Boombox+Creative Sub (If I remember to turn it on...) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Phil Leigh's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=85 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=57107 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
