Well..it looks like you are not patient enough to read through the
whole thing. I do not have any of Empirical audio products (well, a
used power cord is an exception)but Steven Nugent is a very technical
guy. He is retired from Intel and he is doing this out of personal
interest in audio. Whatever he does, he tries to get down to the bottom
of the issue and fix it. Instead of buying products worth thousands of
dollars from big names I will rather buy from him.
IIRC, he is addressing jitter in a very effective way. The Pace Car
operates in two modes and in one of the modes, it injects the clock
back into the source device. Ideally, you can now just take the SPDIF
out of that device and it will be fine. But you need to separate the
clock out again from the SPDIF out which will again introduce jitter.
The Pace car has a I2S output with separate clocks for this reason.
The Squeezebox is a cool product (that I enjoy). But I personally would
go for Empirical audio mods than for the Transporter. (I am mentioning
this as a person who is running an all digital stereo setup with Panny
digital amplifier receivers and SB3 and who has really tried to make
this architecture work as effectively as possible).
