Without evidence I don't see why you expect that, cost doesn't always correlate to performance. The primary function of a wristwatch is to tell the time accurately. By that measure, a $5 digital watch will vastly outperform a $5000 Rolex. But of course, people don't buy a Rolex because they want a high performance watch...
