Exactly. The 24-bit control in the TP/SB3/Receiver is very good. This 6dB per bit stuff is all about 16-bit not 24!!! Don't sweat it. The best sound you will get is to use in-line attenuators to get the max gain down to a reasonable level and protect your speakers. Then use the digital level to adjust level for different listening scenarios.
