For those of you who have not yet read the TAS Transporter review here
is a brief summary.

The review was written by TAS' in house digital and computer audio
"expert" Steven Stone. Like all things TAS it is sorely lacking in the
technical department, such as measurements and a full rundown of all the
Transporter's functions, e.g. no mention of SqueezeNetwork, how digital
audio files are decoded and streamed and little mention of
SqueezeCenter.

Stone does a fairly reasonable job of putting the Transporter through
its paces and concludes that the Transporter is indeed a very fine
sounding unit. However, he gets overly hung up on the point that when
the Transporter is used as a digital preamp using the digital volume
control may result in a slight sonic degradation. While it is good that
Mr. Stone picked up on this digital volume control issue the amount of
space given over to this point is way overboard.

The reviews also fails to discuss how the Transporter and SqueezeCenter
handle the various audio codecs currently available and pros and cons of
a server based music system.

So although the review is somewhat lacking Mr. Stone nonetheless gives
the Transporter a very positive rating and does like both the sound and
functionality of the unit, especially when playing back high definition
(24bit/96kHz) files.
