Phil - Many thanks for this advice. I completely agree that I'm running a huge risk with this - I just assumed that the Transporter (having been around for a couple of years now) was stable enough to warrant direct connection. I used to run a SB3 to Benchmark DAC1 to Simaudio P5 preamp, bt found the sound SO much better without the pre-amp that I sold it and injected directly from the DAC1.
I am using the balanced outputs of the TP. Using an inline attenuator seems a neat way to avoid blow outs, but is a reduction of only 10db enough? When I was running the audio out of the tact comfortable listening was around 71 on the display, now running it out of the TP it's about 81. So I'm guessing I've still got room even with attenuators to go a little further if needed?
