I currently have a couple of duets and a boom; one of the duets drives
my main listening areas, the other is connected to my home theatre
setup. I mainly use the boom as an outdoor music deliverer.

I'm thinking of upgrading one of the duet receivers. The options are a
Transporter (expensive, even bought on eBay) or a Touch (is it really as
good as claimed?).

I like good clean music. I generally listen to it through decent
mid-range equipment, nothing fancy - good Onkyo receiver, Paradigm
speakers (bought after reading an Audiophile mag review).

I run a Fit-PC2 (size of a cigarette package) as a dedicated 24/7 music
server, and have upwards of 15k tracks, mostly lossless, stored on it.
Main receiver is connected via ethernet (this is the one up for
upgrading); secondary is used wirelessly. I don't actually hear a
difference that can be attributed to ethernet/wireless, which is what
I'd expect.

I'll never be running an external DAC; I doubt I'll ever use the
digital outs; it's possible I'll upgrade the Onkyo receiver and the
speakers -- my listening space has very high ceilings, and a bit more
spacious volume would not go amiss.

So. . . might it be worth it to invest in a Transporter while they are
still available; or should I save my money and get just-as-good results
with a Touch?
