Hey NewBuyer, no need to convince all of us as it's a Forum, right! But
a great post none the less with sound reasoning (pun intended)!

And I guess I might not have been clear about the Transporter as to my
thinking. Is it the best sounding option? In my opinion it is, no
matter the application. My only concern is it worth the money when the
Touch has bridged a lot of distance that was between the SB3 and the
Transporter?

So I say go with the Touch if only using the RCA Analog Outs and your
stereo system is under $10000. Would the Transporter be the ultimate
source in a less then $10K system, sure it would. Would there be an
improvement. Again, I think there would be. Would it be worth $1500. I
don't think so, especially when using that $1500 toward speakers or
components would probably provide more of what I am assuming he is
looking for. Again it is my opinion that what the OP is looking for is
more body, sound stage, liveness out of his system. Just changing the
Source component is not going to cure this and in most cases makes what
is already lacking more obvious. Most of ones Audio budget needs to be
spent on Speakers, then amplification. A source that costs two to three
times what the Receiver did, is in my opinion, not the place to start.
And the Touch is a good match dollar wise for his system and should
show an improvement letting him save money toward amp or speakers.

Yes Transporter is EOL, but there will probably be a healthy used
market for them for a few years. Again, I highly reccommend getting a
demo amp and running the Duet directly into it (starting with the Duet
volume on Zero) to see if a better amp opens things up or is what the
OP is looking for first. Sure, I agree that everyone can use a
Transporter (read need for me) but I still don't think it is the place
to start with what the OP discribed. But hey, that's just me.

A pair of Vandersteen Model 3A Sigs, a GFA-555SE, and a Touch or Duet
brand new for under $5500 makes a killer Stereo System and used in
excellent condition at less then $3000 is hard to beat.
