To claim a DAC - for example - is "better" than another implies some absolute scale of measurement/assessment against which one component can be judged to be "better" than another. Since such a scale does not exist, what people are actually saying is that they find one component preferable to another. This is fine. However, it doesn't translate into any form of absolute truth. The only people are even arguably in a position to talk about "better" rather than "preferable" are ones who BELIEVE they "know" (by which I mean, believe they can honestly remember) how the replay should sound... and as we know, sonic memory is as reliable as a chocolate teapot in the desert. -- Phil Leigh You want to see the signal path BEFORE it gets onto a CD/vinyl...it ain't what you'd call minimal...
