Gee I can't stand the title, it is soaring.
Canberra Gliding Club had a great Easter weekend at home at BUNYAN, with
plenty of flights FRI, SAT and I was there SUN MON. Great fun, had to fly a
TIF to 4,000 AGL - 6,500 Sunday before getting into the tug.
I enjoyed a huge 'T' bone under the stars SUN night with several mates and
reds and fly MON. Tuff. The MSOP says 8 hours 'tween bottle and gliding and
we achieved that easily. Took at 4WD tour to clear the ears. Then 4+ hours
in Jantar, with Rod Stone buddying around in Discus 77, alternately
scrambling on the ridge ~1,000 AGL, saw 6,000 AMSL oops 7,000 AMSL then
under cloud to 8,000 AMSL listening to all from Benalla, Temora to Pipers,
was it Tumba on the winch, and another operating from Dalgety?
T'was a great Easter Monday. Had to view Michelago from 7,000 AMSL,
Adaminaby and Eucumbene from 9,500 AMSL, back to MLG at 9,000 with Canberra
in the distance, and then check out a weak sea breeze at Numeralla but got
to 10,000 AMSL - back to Michelago [agin] to view the road traffic, land and
drive in the latter. Have not seriously counted but think in terms of 200 km
tooling around.
What were the mere mortals doing, many were fishing and camping below, to us
it was fun.

Would rather be above 8,000 than on the ground talking about flying. [and
we were]
