As others have said, I would go direct to Garmin through their website and 
follow their directions.  I do not know what the warranty arrangements are 
but GPSs - almost by definition - are items which should reasonably be 
expected to travel from place to place and the seller may not be the 
convenient agent to carry out repairs or work on faulty ones.  GME 
Electrophone have been around for a while and should be helpful.

OTOH, I have found the dealers in Singapore to be reasonably responsive too 
if you have your receipt.  I have used STS Communications on the 2nd (or 
3rd? - I haven't counted, I just know where to go) floor of Sim Lim Square 
and they were good.
