Andrew

I have similar problem and my Garmin is only about 3 yrs old. At this stage
I have a "Memory Battery Low" alrm only and havn't had a failure.

I understand the problem with replacing the lithium battery is with the
seperation of the case. it has been joined by a heat rpcess that cannot be
reversed as we could do with glued cases.

I have also tried the tecniques for charging the internal battery such as
enabling the diagnostic mode and putting fresh batteries in.

I would be interested if anyone has dealt with this problem successfully. I
bought my 12xl in Singapore so don't have recourse to the Australin agent
for Garmin.
