I suppose it all rests on the interpretation of the phrase 'Commercial Flight Training' It could be argued that gliding clubs, as opposed to commercial operations eg at Benalla & Narromine for example, are not commercial organisations, insofar as we are a club, albeit registered s a business, that exists to provide gliding facilities to our members, and not a 'Commercial Flight Training' organisation, as we provide flight training at no cost, and our organistation is non-profit making. There again, I'm not a lawyer...

He also had to rewrite our Ops Manual to cover items not covered in the GFA Ops Manual (MOSP), and then was knocked back. This AOC was only to allow us to offer "joy flights" to the public instead of insisting they take an AEF when they expressed the desire to *definitely* not touch the controls. We still haven't received an AOC. Now it seems that we will be *forced* to get one to be able to offer our own members tuition. I hope they make the process easier than it is at present !! What is GFA doing to fight this CASA idiocy ? I take some heart from the Press Release from John Anderson. At least CASA should be talking to GFA.
