Another complete waste of bandwidth, Brian.

Why don't you actually contribute something sensible to the discussion for
a change?

This forum is the only place where glider pilots can kick around new ideas
and hopefully eventually expand and improve the gliding activity.

As for GFA bashing, any organisation that can reduce the number of
participants from nearly 5000 to just over 2500 in 15 years at a time of
population growth of greater than 1% per year, thoroughly deserves bashing.

The only "freedom" the GFA buys glider pilots is the ability to continue to
run a very poorly supervised, low quality decentralised flying school
staffed by people of uncertain ability and training.(Wanna hear some more
instructor horror stories?) It does a wonderful job of turning off people
who may have been attracted to gliding by seeing video of beautiful gliders
flying in mountains, clouds going by etc. only to be confronted by the ugly
reality of learning to fly in the gliding club environment where most of
them go away discouraged after a few months at best.
