I'd just like to make the point that most of you who are making comments
about what youth want out of gliding appear to have no idea what youth
-actually- want out of gliding.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: The Gliding Movement's
retention problem has nothing to do with changes in available free
time, changes in what the youth of today want, changes in society's
expectations, etc.

The Gliding Movement's retention problems are rooted in changes in
the gliding movement: Namely, many of the movers and shakers in the
gliding movement who used to be adventurous go-getters having a great
time and setting a brilliant example for everyone else are now OFITTH's
who seem to exist almost exclusively to serve as road-blocks which
prevent people who still have colour in their hair from having fun.

Rather than tut-tutting about the fickle nature of today's youth and
deriding them as a bad investment, look a bit closer to home, and
ask whether your club's *attitude* is driving away potential new members.
