Well said.

Security of loggers is trivial to get around with little knowledge. But the 
security does need to at least be reasonable.

Why? For the same reason we put locks on doors. Yes we all know it is easy to 
just break a window, so why put in a secure lock.

So to break into a house, you have to break something. To fake an IGC file you 
have to go out of your way.

If there was no security (or an open door) you might be tempted... but if it is 
protected in some way then you think twice.

I think the IGC is fantastic for taking this approach. It has allowed us to 
have electronic loggers, while in some other sports it is still difficult.

Mind you I think the most important person is the witness (damn what are they 
called?) - because they know the conditions of the day, they can see from a 
trace if it was real or faked right away. They see you took off, landed.
