This is a very good point. However, I do not understand your reference to
a "new list." It is the same list, but it would be placed on a different mail
server. Yet, if the majority of the authors want to make the move, something
needs to be done about those that are not willing to make such a move.
My suggestion based upon what you said is this: Prior to the move, an
email should be sent out to the entire list stating when the move will take
place. An opportunity should be given those who do not want to make the move
to remove their names from the list. Atleast week's advanced notice should be
given (two weeks might be a better idea). Then move the names which are left.
Then if anyone wants to leave the list later, he or she can do so.
