Read Chapter 8 in WG and also read the tutorials for your application.
You should use enough resolution or otherwise the substitution might
have lower quality. I thought my 32- bit BMP shots appeared better than
the 24- bit PNGs, but again, that was my perception.
I use SnagIt 7-- probably the industry standard for screen captures.
If
do not have any software, try a free evaluation of SnagIt 8 (assuming
you're using XP). Also you can use the open- source GIMP for graphics
too, but you don't need it.

Another option for doing screen captures, if you're using Windows, is
Gadwin Printscreen: http://www.gadwin.com/printscreen/
It is not as good as Snag-It, but Gadwin is totally free.
