In above chapter of the Getting Started Guide, subchapter Using
dockable/floating windows (page 6 in the separate chapter 4), you
refer to two methods of docking a window. When using the first
method, you mention that this may not work depending on your
'system's window manager settings'. I wonder what this is and how I
can change these settings as some of my fellow translators cannot
use this method.
I hope someone knows more about this than I do. As far as I know,
this isn't something you can change, if your system doesn't allow it.
What operating systems are being used by the translators who cannot
use that method?
The translators use Windows XP, as I do. I can use the first method,
but they cannot. :-(
Oh, that's weird. Obviously my assumption that "if it doesn't work, you
can't change it" is wrong.
Later today I expect to need to use WinXP for awhile, so I'll see if it
works for me there.
Meanwhile, I hope someone who knows more about this will answer. Perhaps
we should ask on one of the OOo lists. I suspect there is an issue filed
(that might have some more info), but I can never find anything in
IssueTracker.
Windows XP, SP2: both methods work as described for both the Styles and
Navigator windows. This is with OOo 2.2 standard US edition. Maybe someone has
inadvertently 'bent' a translated version??
