Sorry, Michele, I missed this sentence in your earlier note.
Indexing involves three things: (1) deciding what to index, (2)
inserting the index fields into the files, and (3) editing the
result for consistency (for example, singular vs plural), entries
at the wrong level, missing entries, and other things like that,
then putting the changes back into the index fields in the files.
You can either take a copy of the generated index (turn it into
text) and edit it, leaving me to change the index fields in the
files to match the edits you make to the index itself, or you can
change the index fields in the files yourself. If you haven't
used OOo's indexing feature before, it's explained in the Writer
Guide chapter on ToCs, Indexes & Bibliographies.
