Hello Cor, Jean, Gary,

(apologies to the other subscribers of the list, but this is a rather
important issue and I think it is useful to discuss it on this list
which collects advanced users of OOo)

I have reopened the file I finished to revise yesterday (you can
download it here)

http://oooauthors.org/en/authors/userguide2/writer/feedback/0208WG_WorkingWithGraphics_20Apr08.odt/download

and I am definitely sure that I removed all the "default" styles while
they have reappeared. I am also sure that I applied the style
"OOoNumbering end" to the last numbered entry. The text is formatted
correctly (i.e. it is certainly not a default paragraph) and this
makes the thing even more mysterious.

One guess is that OOo 2.4 does not honour the "next style" field and
reverts instead to default even if it preserves the formatting. You
will in fact note that many of the paragraph after a OOoHeading are
marked as default even if they are not. They should be OOoTextBody as
per the style setting (OOoHeading x is followed by OOoTextBody).

There is something else: the default character style *cannot* be
modified in OOo2.4 while I was sure it was possible to modify it in
the earlier versions (but I may be wrong). In general I noticed some
issues with reapplying the default character style but I was not able
to reproduce the problem yet.

Cheers,

Michele
