I just read that issue, and I think the problem Gary and I are
discussing is a different problem, though it may be related.
We are not pasting text, or loading styles. We are opening files that
worked fine in 2.3.1 and now in 2.4 have the Default style applied to
some -- but not all -- paragraphs that had a custom style before. (The
contents of those files may have originally come from 1.x, but the
actual files have been 2.x files for some time.)
Is there an existing issue for the problem I have just described? I
cannot find anything in the Issue Tracker, so I don't even try.

Earlier, I selected and copied all the text from the older file and
reinstalled it on a clean version 2.4 file. However, that didn't clear
up the problem(s) at all.
