I have actually downscaled the maps to 2048x1024 for inclusion in the movie. I'm keeping PNGs whilst I rescale etc, once I am happy with the results I will save as JPGs to save space in the distributable swf.
As far as I know the flash version is the same everywhere - 10.0.42.34. Because I have declared external interfaces the movie will not play in the standalone player. I'll recompile it without the external interfaces and see if it works in the standalone player.
