Are you using ColladaMaya for one of its supported versions? 2008/2009

All of my assets are exported through maya. Make sure they are
triangulated, and that you didn't unchcek a feature like "export
polygon mesh" Also turn off double sided render on the shape group.
The only thing that annoys me with away3d/maya is changing the
materials(after they have been parsed). I use a dirty work around...
assigning every one of my models a lambert called "lam" so that way I
don't have to know what it is.. but it is rather annoying not being
able to get the materials in a list, you need their id.

These are my maya export settings for ColladaMaya. Everything else is
unchecked
