Hi Cheri, I spell out almost everything. For Example, Attleboro, Bristol, Massachusetts, USA or Ribeirinha, Ribeira Grande, Sao Miguel, Acores I see the only thing I abbreviate is "USA" and perhaps I should change it to United States of America. In my genealogy program, I don't abbreviate the freguesia, church, island or Azores. I do abbreviate in somewhat in emails. I was abbreviating county (as in Los Angeles Co) and I was abbreviating California as "CA" but "CA" is also Canada, isn't it? I was thinking of changing to California, but CA is in the state field and Canada (I spell out the countries) is in the country field. Which *seems* clear until you do an export/import. I see strange things in the fields when I import people's Gedcoms. I was wondering how far people abbreviate?
