Cheri, I tend to abbreviate county to co. but spell out the state and most every thing else because I'm often handing a report to someone with an interest in, but no experience in geneaolgy. If they want to pick up and go on with the research then it is clear which county to look for more records. My own notes are mostly abbreviations
