I haven't checked yet, but I think there might be more than one Joao
Tavares on Ancestry manifest who might fit. Chances are if he settled in
NB, Providence, etc. he came through one of those ports BUT it is highly
possible he came through NY also .
Can you tell us a little more about your great grandfather. Did he have a
middle name? Do you know the name of his parents? Where did he settle?
Wife, Children?
