There is no actual document that is posted; the banns of marriage is simply an announcement of a couple's intent to marry, which is delivered by the priest from the pulpit, during Mass, on three consecutive weeks prior to a marriage. It is one step in the process that a couple must pass to marry. After the ceremony, the marriage record will state that the Church has found no impediments to the marriage, and the witnesses will testify that they know the couple, that they have been baptized as Catholics, and, that they reside within the parish.
