AltinoYou may have missed the fact that Sabina's motther was single. It is a bit confusing the priest either had too much vinho as Cheri says or he got totaly flustered because I read that the parents are Antonio de Sousa (deceased) and Antonia de Paiva, single, then in lines 7 and 8 it aludes to the father being Joao de Sousa, married. Birth date was 19 May 1759 and baptismal on the 25th.The language is a bit convoluted but I wonder if Antonia didn't try to conveniently place Antonio (deceased) as the father wihle the priest knew that Joao who wouldn't admit to it (he actually denied being the father) was in fact the father.Others may have a better or more complete versionHope that helps.Hermano From: [email protected] Date: Sat, 1 Dec 2012 14:43:46 -0800 Subject: Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Help with a record To: [email protected]
Altino, "Sabina, filha de Anta. deSou digo filha de Domingos de Payva filha de Anta de Souza...." Old spelling of Paiva. And he wrote "filha de" over and over. Wow, he must have had the whole carafe of vinho!
