Hi Dano, Thanks for responding. Yes, the parish is in S. Miguel, Azores. The problem is that passport record and ship's manifest have conflicting information. The Manifest not only shows a different place of origin for Ermelinda it also added the surname Paiva. Everything else matches. I'm presently searching passports and ship's manifest for her son Manuel.
I also have routes in Ponta Garca. My 6th gm was Margarida de Matos Oliveira daughter of Joao de Matos Brandao and Antonia de Oliveira.
