The specultion could be endless. Abandonement can possibly be ruled out because 
the record says that her previous husband was buried in Rio de Janeiro.

So maybe this "matrimonial alvara" was a kind of marriage bann/intent?  They 
posted it for 3 days and got married quickly, before she started to show she 
was pregnant?  Or, like you said, because her husband died in Brasil (or who 
really knows, maybe he went to Brasil and abandoned her and after a few years 
she just said he died).



Extra info at the bottom didn't really say much.
