Annie, Yes a different Carvalho family.
The record that says Maria Jose de Freitas is the same person. It could be a transcription error by the archivist, or the way the priest wrote it. I live in the San Francisco Bay Area. My mom's family came from Flores and I have cousins raised there that are now in the US and Canada.
