Eric, Just received a copy of the Marriage Certificate for Velma M. Cotta and Manuel M. Coelho on Oct. 13, 1923 in Tulare, Calif. It shows her name as *Velma* not Belmira even though the newspaper article listed her as Belmira.
Her parents are Joe M. Cotta - birthplace Portugal and Mary Conceicao - birthplace Portugal the same as the 1910 census. Now the fun part! It shows Velma's age as 17 years old!! The 1910 census clearly shows Belmira as 2/12 - 2 months old. Do you suppose the parents fudged a bit on her age?
