Repost for Scott Anderson, I am looking for information about the surname Casquilha or Casquilho that would have been located in Faja de Cima, Sao Miguel. My great-grandfather emigrated from Sao Miguel to the US in 1906. His name was Jose Rodrigues Casquilha (or "o," I've seen it both ways). As far as I can tell, his father was named Francisco Rodrigues Casquilho and his mother was Maria Jose Ermelinda. Any information about the surname or any family members that may still live on the island would be most welcome.
