A couple of points. "Following" refers to following the text, not a person. I only
gave "following along while someone reads" as an example of an English expression
where "following" and "reading" are associated.
"Congregational prayer" is a translation of the Arabic, salat. In the Baha'i Faith, it
refers to our three Daily Obligatory Prayers and to the Prayer for the Dead. It does
not include du`a or munajat ("regular" prayer).

I think that Don made a good point about similarities to interpretive reading. I once
judged a student interpretive reading competition. Some of them were quite good.
