hey there,
I am facing this same problem with my bike (classic 180) . My bike is running
on a new RR unit, a new coil (avenger) and the same amaron sealed maintainance
battery. Have got everything on my bike checked by reddy, all electricals are
working fine. The culprit was the battery, Got mine on 12/08/09 and since then
it has been replaced twice. seems like there is a problem with the amaron
batteries. Currently running on a brand new exide given by the battery dealer
from where i got my amaron, hes asked me to check if it works well for 5 days,
3 days down, no issues. the amaron battery goes down after 2 days. The RR unit
is charging well. getting 14V on 3 - 4k rpm. So before doing anything, check
the battery once. Have it charged and see if gives a full charge of 12.56, if
not u know what to do.

All the best!

                  Dear friends,

One silly question.

How does one know that the R & R unit of my P150 Vintage ES is fine?

I am thinking of checking the voltage that it is giving out to the battery

after disconnecting it and starting the bike. Will this be the correct way

of doing so? What is the voltage that should be coming out of the RR?

..........after junking my old battery thinking that it was a gonner, and

replacing it with an Amaron Sealed maintenance Free 9AH battery 3 days back,

I am wondering if I sold off my battery for no reason! This is in case the

RR is defective. The new battery has discharged, so I am suspecting the RR.

Should one only suspect the RR or should one suspect the coil(s) of the

alternator too?

Ciao // Rajeev.
