OK. Now the update. I went and got a brand new RR (took the old one so that he should not have any doubts of part number etc) and now the voltage has gone up to 3 volts! Paid INR 342 at Gautam Automobiles, and got a proper bill.
I should suspect the Amaron battery, only if the voltage of the unconnected cables that charge the battery starts to give the desired voltage, na? Currently, in disconnected condition, it is giving 3 volts - up from 1 volt that was the old RR. Method of checking - disconnected the battery. Battery in discharged state is 11 Volts. Now started the bike using the kick starter. Holding the accelerator to 3000 rpm, the voltage across the charging cables is 3 volts. Even with more rpm, the voltage does not increase. ...... so am I a victim of poor replacement electricals that Bajaj is proudly famous for? Or else, is the coil capable of giving badly high voltage to spoil a new RR? Ciao // Rajeev. Pablo Picasso<http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/authors/p/pablo_picasso.html> - "Computers are useless.
