Curiously, that initiative would _ensure_  same-sex marriages in

Please note in particular lessons apparent in the Sept. 2000 marriage of
Jessica and Robin Wicks in San Antonio, Texas:   That same-sex couple
were denied a marriage license _until_ Texas passed its version of Prop. 8, 
which suddenly provided a legal basis for the Wicks's application.

So, are you sure you really want to pass that law, given that it in fact
demonstrably sabotages what you say you want to achieve?
