I think, on any political or otherwise polarizing issue, it's easy to
assume that the community will be united in opinion but obviously this
isn't always true.  I'm not sure how much profit there is in hashing
out the politics in this setting.  Seems to me that there's a high
risk of alienating members over something that's not directly relevant
to the group charter.

I did enjoy reading Rick's well-written piece.
