This seems to me to be a simple way for BB to fix the problem.
BBEdit obviously "knows" when it's "in use"; it's pretty hard to
make use of it without any keyboard or mouse activity at all.
So if a copy of BBEdit is idle, don't include it in the nag logic.
Or give the user an opportunity to quit it. If it is truly a single-
user who just happens to have four machines around the house trying
to run BBEdit (I do have a good reason for that many machines), then
it will give them an opportunity to quit it. This leads to difficult
questions like what to do with unsaved document changes ... but I'm
sure a reasonable solution could be offered.
Here's my lineup:
iMac == wife and kid's machine, I use rarely
MBP17 == my main machine
Mini == my secondary machine, mainly ham radio stuff and
occasionally for programming
TiBk == my previous main machine, still useful for various odd tasks
Honestly I have BBEdit (and many other products) installed on all the
machines. But I almost never use it except on my main and secondary
machines.
BTW interesting fact: BBEdit = $199, MicroSoft Office (Academic) =
$149. Interesting price comparison for what you get. And Office comes
with THREE license numbers to be used (by license verbiage) only on
machines in the same household. BBEdit definitely fits a special
place in my arsenal and I've never been disappointed with it.
