I think whether someone seeks out and uses 'new document with clipboard' and
other features is somewhat dependent of their personality, but for new users
it couldn't hurt for these high-view concepts to make the list on occasion.
These features are not for every one, but that fact that BBEdit has so many
AND manages to make them transparent, in one of it's a great strengths. This
wonderful fact that the interface is so clean, can be a stumbling block for
some new users, that come from apps with only pallets and buttons.
I've found that by challenging my self to learn news ways to work more
smartly as opposed to in my comfort zone, I really have benefited greatly.
It can be difficult to make this shift in work flow style, but I know that
once I did, I there was no going back.
For example, I can say that for myself, my work didn't go any faster at
first, while I was learning regular expressions. Not any faster, but more
stimulating and with much less repetitive motion. Of course after a while
when I got comfortable with Regular Expressions the scope of what I could do
jumped by multiple order of magnitudes.
