Okay try 2.  I should know better than try to anwer e-mail under windows.

At Genuity we used Cisco 2511's, whch work fine.  The problem we found 
with most console devices is they got a good port density typicaly 60+ 
in 3-4U.  We couldn't get more than about 20 Netra T-1s per rack.  So 
our effective density was 5-7 ports per U.   So Cisco 2511's with 16 
ports per U worked out preaty well.  

Something I've not tried but see people talking about is a 1U Linux box 
with one of the uber serial cards (30+ serial ports per PCI card.)  A 
few of those cards are supported under Linux.  You get the added 
advanatage that it will speak SSH so you can just mount it in your racks 
and plug it into your network.
