It makes me wonder if you selected Mac OS X
Look and Feel under Configuration | Java Settings.
Also fonts are worth adjusting for beta u
Fix Pitch font
"DejaVu Sans Mono" 9 - for box drawing
Forms font
"Geneva" 9
Note: font sizes now are platform neutral,
point units with 96 DPI, like in Safari.
