I
suggested a modification to profile.ijs that would allow it to support
multiple users, that is, move the location of user and temp without
requiring any modification to profile.ijs.  Simply put a copy of
profile.ijsin the desired directory to contain the alternate user's
user and temp
directories. When run by J as the first script to load, those directories
become the user and temp directories no matter where the J installation
directories reside. However, if it is run in the J installation directory,
it works exactly as the current profile.ijs now does. The reason I thought
this was important to do is that the profile.ijs could be used without any
changes to support multiple users.

I have not seen any response to that request yet. It seems to me that it
should solve the problems discussed in this thread.
