No technical reasons. I am a little concerned by the number of top
level menu items - now 9 (without Studio) in the edit window vs 7
(with Studio) in J6. Also, I see the current menu items as essential
IDE tools, whereas Studio would be inessential.

All this is easy to customize. If and when labs and demos are in
addons, then the default behaviour could be as you describe, and a
separate menu config could select which menu items are shown.
